The Importance of Changing Gate Wheels and the Rack Regularly

The entire gate rests on the wheels on the gate and is guided in its movement by the guide wheels on the guide bracket.

The gate gear meshes with the rack on the gate in order to open and close the gate.

There are many opening and closing of the gate.

Through the year the wheels wear down which leads to the following:
. The gate is now lower than the original settings and the whole gate starts resting on the gear when it opens and closes.
. This puts undue strain on the motor and can cause damage to the gearbox.
. When you hear a squeaky noise coming from the gate it is usually a sign that wheels need to change as the gear and the rack are meshing to tight.
. Wheels also seize up and the motor has to work harder in order to close and open and sometimes the motor will go in to collision mode.
. The danger of wheels wearing down to much make your anti lift ineffective allowing a would be intruder to lift the gate off the gear and simply push the gate open.
