The ideal is to have ones gate start closing as soon as a vehicle passes through the gate.

The reason for this is 2 fold:
. Prevent tailgating
. Prevent an individual from walking in to the complex after a vehicle has passed through.

In many complexed a gate takes far to long to close after a individual has driven through.

This often gives an individual time to walk in to the complex after the vehicle has driven through.

Can you make the gate close quicker?

When one has a set of beams of installed one can set the gate to close immediately after a vehicle has driven through as the beams relay a signal to the motor that a vehicle has passed.

However this often leads to a gate closing on a vehicle for a number of reasons and it is best not to set it at such. The best solution is one set up by TST where we install loops either side of the gate so that it will detect a vehicle on either side of the gate and wont close on a vehicle even if one sets it up to close immediately.

The above takes the palace of the beam but is much safer.

The other option is to install a gate motor that closes with a high speed alongside the loops.
